Chennai Tricolor Initiative

What is this all about?

We Chennaites always take pride in our rich history and the celebration of 377 years of coming into existence itself shows how much heritage we have got. At this juncture, we should not forget the good and the bad events that had happened in this very city. It is also equally important to upheld the patriotism which has been in our blood for generations.

The Chennai Tricolor Initiative is a citizen's initiative to start a movement that cultivates civic sense among the inhabitants of the city. You can do two things here. You can take a Pledge here followed by Crowdfunding to hoist a 207ft National Flag in the public space to commemorate the Pledge.

Idea:

The idea behind this is to upheld the democracy and belief in the same as we have seen some drastic changes in our economy ever since we gained Independence. In the 70 years of being a free nation, we have witnessed the rise and fall of many. It is also imperative that our Democracy has Three Pillars which includes the Government, The Army and the general Public who would do their best within their own purview to uphold the values on which our Constitution is built.

Coverage:

This initiative has been featured in Deccan Chronicle, DT Next, The Hindu, The New Indian Express and in Fever 104FM.

When and Where?

This 207 Ft National Flag will be hoisted in The Marina on 7th December,2016 by the Public.

Why did I take this Pledge?

Chennai has always had a rich history and being one of the Metro Cities, we are far better than other Metros in terms of Happiness Index, Pollution Level, Availability of Transport and Infrastructure, Low Crime Rate to name a few. Our State Govt is stable and my City is the home of many big corporates and brands which has spread its wings worldwide.

I believe it is an imperative duty of a Chennaite like me to take up this pledge because if it is not me, who else will take it up?

I would like to end this up with a small poem calling all my near and dear to take up the pledge and make our City proud.

Chennai is my home
That saw me grow
From being a lesser known
To where I am, today

Not all were lucky
As I was - However
For those who made Chennai
Their Home had soared High
