Story Mirror - Creativity Workshop 4

It was a fun and frolic day yesterday for few of us as there were 2 back to back events. The first one to begin with is the Story Mirror - Creativity Workshop.

Story Mirror has been doing a great job in conducting this free workshop for the past 3 months free of cost where in they would be getting experts from various fields to share their experiences with us. Though I could not make it in the past which saw the likes of Cartoonist Keshav from The Hindu and Director Lingusamy, I made it a point to attend it yesterday.

The venue was the same as before - Apparao Galleries, Wallace Garden 3rd St,Nungambakkam

This time, the event was about three different genres.

1. Photography
2. Art and Architecture (History)
3. Creating a Plot/Story

The Photography session was handled by Vinod Velayudhan, a good friend of mine who talked about the nuances of making the selection between Point and Shoot, Bridge and DSLR Camera. He made us understand the basics prior to selecting the camera.

It was a great session which saw good interaction among the participants. You can reach him out here

The next session - on our Art and Architecture was handled by renowned historian Dr Chitra Madhavan. The information she had shared in her session was really fascinating and an eye-opener for us. She made us understand the importance of our architecture which is far superior than any other known architecture of their time dating back to 3 B.C. The minute details in which she saw the architecture was sunning and when she explained it in detail, we were literally having goosebumps.

Finally, it was crating story/plot session by the author Mr Arun who gave us few small exercises which made us to work out on them.

To end up the session, it was the Co-Founder and CEO of Story Mirror, Mr.Devender Jaiswal who explained in detail as to what they do and about the plans of introducing Tamil in their fold by 2017 with the very first set of books coming out as a collection of Haiku poems by Director Lingusamy. He also did not forget to mention about Author Shashidar Sharma who took great pains in getting this workshop done by getting the best of the personalities.

We finally signed off with  group pic. I am looking forward to the next session, already :-)
