​ Indian flavours have always had a way of making their mark, and now they’re finding a place beyond the plate. From the tangy comfort of chaas and the indulgence of butter chicken to the festive sweetness of ghewar, the nostalgia of meetha paan and the warmth of masala chai, these familiar flavours get a spirited new avatar with vodka. Here are five unexpected desi-inspired cocktails that bring together Indian flavours and modern cocktail culture. Masala Chaach Fizz Ingredients 60 ml ZigZag Original Vodka 90 ml chilled buttermilk (chaas) 15 ml fresh lemon juice 10–15 ml simple syrup 1 small pinch of salt Ice Optional: pinch of roasted cumin powder Method Add vodka, buttermilk, lemon juice, simple syrup and salt to a shaker. Add ice and shake well for 8–10 seconds. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
