1. What
motivates you to write?
I think the joy of telling
a story and that too on a wider reach motivates me to write. But the credit
goes to my mother who pushed me to write from a very tender age ever since my
school days. So I used to write travelogues, articles at various publications.
It was she who recognised my talent and finally today I was able to write a
book.
2. How did
you feel after publishing your books?
This book is like my first
baby so I am feeling the same joy which one feels when their first baby comes
to life.
3. What
are some of your favourite novels and authors?
Sidney Sheldon for his
master portrayal of femme fatale. I really think he was the Master of
Unexpected. Since I did my honours in English I read a fair share of books,
dramas and plays. Jane Eyre is my all-time favourite. Dan Brown I too love for
the way he does his research and spins a plot around it.
4. Is
there a specific reason for naming your novel?
Yes definitely, when I was
a small kid I had this glass toy known as Kaleidoscope which used to make
varied patterns giving different shapes. So when I was writing this book
dealing with the myriad emotions of love I could not think of any better title
than this. Because love also changes with time, love is always there in every
relationship yet we rarely understand it and like a Kaleidoscope it changes and
varies starting from obsession, betrayal, sacrifice, happiness and so on.
5. Where
do you write from? Do you go to some specific place, like beach side or the
hills?
I write wherever I feel
comfortable. All I need is my laptop and I am set.
6. What
inspired you to write the books (in general)? Any tales to tell…
As I said before I love
connecting with people and I have a very active imagination with lot of thoughts
and ideas going on all the time. So what is better than to put it down in a
story and tell a tale!
7. What
was your biggest learning experience throughout the writing process?
Lots, I am still a novice.
I didn’t know what the difference between traditional publishing and
self-publishing was. I didn’t know that today book publishing does not finish
with writing alone rather it’s an entire exercise. You have to make a connect
with the readers you have to make an effort to be accessible to them. In fact
what I believe is it is a beginning of a relationship between me and my
readers.
8. Looking
back, what did you do right that helped you break in as a writer?
I think there is always a
story to be told, but its always a leap of faith that stopped me from writing.
But when I started blogging the joy which I felt in writing and reaching out to
people finally gave me the boost that maybe I should write and tell the
world about what I feel, make them see
what I saw. That’s the beauty of writing.
9. Any
best piece of writing advice that you would like to share with new or
struggling writers?
Just one line, believe in
yourself. Success may not greet you in the beginning but keep going and believe
in your characters, believe in your story or plot and then the rest of the
world will believe you.
10. Something
personal about you people may be surprised to know?
I am and always has been
an open book. But even few people know even among those who know me is that I
am a certified Reiki III A practitioner and an Angel healer. I am a big foodie,
I love to eat. I love to travel that’s my another passion apart from writing
and I love to play with my dog.
11. Any
future books that you would like to discuss now?
Definitely my next book is
a mythological fiction but it is still in raw form to comment on it. Hopefully
by the end of this year it should be out.
12.What other
profession excites you the most?
I am very happy where I am
right now.
13.Any special
mention about your reader (be it with reviews/feedback or anything else)
I am so grateful to
everyone who gave my book a shot and read it. The reviews which I have been
getting till now are more than encouraging. And I just hope that people or
readers after reading my book maybe will try to see love in every aspect of
their life.
14.Do you write
the story at a stretch or you take your time to complete it? If you take a
longer time, wouldn’t you be forgetting the story? How do you tackle it?
That depends. But I try to
devote at least an hour to my writing. And even when I am not the ideas always
run in the back of my mind. So I never forget my characters or my story. I
believe connection is very important. First we need to have a connection with
our characters so when I write I relieve what that character himself would have
felt,
15.Traditional
or Self-Publishing? Why?
Both are important in
their own way. If any author can break through the traditional way that’s
really commendable but with the current trend when every writer is struggling
it becomes very difficult to break the crux. So in this case self-publishing
becomes a boon for writers provided they have the resources.
16.How is the
response so far for the book?
As I mentioned quite
encouraging and positive. I hope that it reaches out to more people. And the
beauty of this book is you can finish it in one go over a cup of coffee or while on a flight. So
readers please give it a shot.
