Digital wave sweeps SMB sector: AI tools now used by 4 in 5 small businesses, reports Primus Partners

• 69% of SMBs in India already use digital advertising, and another 27% plan to adopt it within three years.
• 57% of businesses reported a doubling or tripling of revenue since adopting online advertising.
• Nearly 80% of SMBs now use AI-enabled advertising tools, but cost, skills, and ecosystem complexity remain hurdles.

National, 12th December 2025: Primus Partners unveiled its latest report, Empowering Small Businesses through Digital Advertising, a comprehensive study based on a survey of over 1,000 MSMEs and startups across India. The report underscores that digital advertising has become one of the most potent accelerators of small business growth, driving visibility, efficiency, and measurable returns at a scale previously inaccessible to smaller enterprises. The study shows that India’s SMB sector is undergoing a decisive shift embracing data-driven marketing, diversifying across platforms and formats, and increasingly adopting AI to optimise campaigns and reduce inefficiencies. Yet, even with this momentum, many small businesses continue to struggle with cost pressures, skill gaps, and the challenge of navigating an increasingly complex advertising ecosystem.

The findings reveal that SMBs are not only advertising more, they are advertising smarter. A majority use three to four platforms simultaneously, over 65% deploy multiple formats, and more than 90% actively monitor campaign performance using digital tools. As the digital marketplace grows more competitive, AI adoption has become nearly universal, with SMBs using intelligent tools for targeting, fraud detection, automation, and creative optimisation.

The study also highlights structural challenges that continue to restrain the full potential of SMBs. Limited budgets, absence of specialised talent, lack of IT infrastructure, and difficulty choosing the right mix of platforms and formats were cited as primary barriers. Over 70% of SMBs also expressed that the sheer variety of advertising options can be overwhelming, underscoring the need for simplified guidance and ecosystem support.

Commenting on the policy significance of the findings, Sunita Mohanty, Managing Director, Primus Partners, said, “India’s economy depends deeply on the vitality of its small businesses, and this report shows how digital advertising is becoming a key equaliser allowing them to compete with larger players and participate more meaningfully in national and global markets. What is remarkable is not just the high adoption rate, but the tangible impact: from doubling revenues to expanding across India and even reaching export markets. At the same time, small businesses are telling us clearly that they need simpler, more affordable, and more trustworthy digital pathways. This report is our effort to ensure their voices shape the next phase of India’s digital economy.”

The report concludes that India’s SMBs are transitioning from digital adopters to digital leaders, but need a more supportive ecosystem to unlock their full potential. It calls for strengthened public–private collaboration, targeted digital skilling initiatives, responsible AI frameworks, and broader access to affordable tools that can help small businesses grow with confidence, resilience, and transparency.

Press Story: Rungta Tea's 24 years of growth, now targeting 2-year acceleration

Rungta Tea Reports 92% Distributor Retention Over 24 Years, Announces Expansion Plans

New Delhi, December 9, 2025 – Rungta Tea, one of India's leading regional tea brands, celebrates 24 years of operations with a rare achievement in FMCG distribution - they have maintained a 92% retention rate of its distributor network since launching operations. A retention rate, the company says is unusual in India's fast-moving consumer goods sector.
Headquarters in Delhi since 2004-05, the company currently operates across North and East India with the same distributor partners it signed at inception.
"Quality, commitment, and relationships - these three principals have guided every decision for 24 years," said Girjesh Rungta, Founder and Managing Director of Rungta Tea. "We approach all distributors as if we approach family, not channels. When you've sat in the distributor's chair yourself, you understand their challenges before they even voice them."
The company plans to accelerate expansion over the next two years, targeting growth rates that would match its 24-year trajectory, according to Mr. Rungta. He cited existing infrastructure capacity as a key enabler.
"The work we accomplished in 24 years will be replicated in the next two years," Mr. Rungta stated. "Our infrastructure is built for companies five times our current size. We're not building for today, we're prepared for ten years ahead."
Rungta Tea, operates a manufacturing facility in Siliguri with family oversight of quality control processes. The company reports testing approximately 2,000 tea samples to approve 15-20 for its premium product lines.
Known primarily through its flagship Real Gold brand, the company has expanded from its Biharorigins to serve markets in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Delhi NCR. Rajasthan has shown strong uptake for the company's premium offerings, Mr. Rungta said.
"The business model relies on transparency and zero-cash transactions," Mr. Rungta said. "When distributors trust the business practices, retention follows."
About Rungta Tea
Founded in 2001, Rungta Tea produces and distributes blended tea products across North and East India. The company operates with family-controlled quality standards and has expanded into select FMCG categories. Rungta tea’s products include Real Gold, Real Gold Classic, Real Gold Select, Real Taste, Real Taste (elaichi tea), Real Taste (masala chai), Roz and Dhamaka. Current operations span Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Delhi NCR.

Press Release - Apollo Hospitals Marks 27 Years of Successful Pediatric Liver Transplantation in India Organizes a workshop, training program and CME in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology

The event marked an important milestone — 27 years since India’s first successful pediatric liver transplant at Apollo Hospitals Delhi. Over the years, Apollo has played a pivotal role in advancing pediatric gastrointestinal and liver care, setting benchmarks in clinical innovation, training, and outcomes.

On 15 November 1998, Apollo Hospitals Delhi performed India’s first successful pediatric liver transplant. The first recipient, Master Sanjay, was 22 months old at the time. Today, he is 29, a practicing doctor and married.

Tamil Nadu Cities Outshine Metros in Discreet Connections

Ashley Madison Winter Map Shows Surprising Dominance of Tamil Nadu Cities for Discreet Relationships

2nd Dec 2025, India: With the winter chills setting in, the inclination to explore the discreet relationships, emotional spaces and shared intimacy is increasing, especially in South India. Ashley Madison, the world's leading platform for discreet relationships, mapped the top Indian cities that are highlighting a rising indulgence in discreet relationships. While New Delhi claimed the top position, 8 out of the top 10 cities (per capita) are located in Tamil Nadu (TN)
Even though the country’s capital, New Delhi, leads the list, non-metro cities like Vellore, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Thoothukudi, Erode, Tirunelveli and Salem from Tamil Nadu follow closely. The surge in the sign-ups for discreet relationships in regional spaces that are often considered culturally traditional indicates evolving definitions of relationships and commitment among the younger or middle-aged population, or a heightened desire for discretion in largely close-knit communities.
The new rankings reinforce the trend previously seen, where the temple town of Kanchipuram took the #1 spot in the summer. The latest data indicates that this growing interest in discreet relationships has a majority of the top-ranking cities originating from the state of Tamil Nadu. The dominance of these Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities over major metros suggests that the desire to redefine relationships further from the traditional understanding, is now deeply rooted beyond India's urban centers.
“We are seeing a clear shift in the narrative with a surprising cultural evolution in regions like Tamil Nadu. The presence of so many cities from the region in the top ranks suggests that while the communities here may be close-knit and traditional in nature, individuals are finding a safe and discreet outlet to explore their individuality and desires that their primary relationship may not necessarily fulfill. Seeing so many non-metro cities is a strong indication of growing personal autonomy,” says Dr. Tammy Nelson, Relationship Expert and Consultant at Ashley Madison.
Paul Keable, Chief Strategy Officer at Ashley Madison, adds, "This data tells a compelling story of regional adoption. The significant presence of these Southern Indian cities at the top, demonstrates that the curiosity and need for relationship alternatives are becoming universal in India. Where Kanchipuram led the charge last time in the summer, a full cohort of non-metro Tamil Nadu cities is now showing that the desire to explore intimacy on one's own terms is a powerful and growing nationwide movement."
The attached map offers a visual snapshot of India’s most curious and discreetly explorative cities this season, showcasing how approaches to relationships are being redefined around the country.

Funding Announcement: Modulus Housing Raises Funding to Scale Micro-Construction Across India & Emerging Markets

Modulus Housing Raises 70 Crores (7.83 million USD) from Kalaari, Samarthya, Hero, Zetwerk Founder, SVAS, Sigma to Scale the Future of Micro Constructions Across India and Emerging Markets

Chennai, India | December 2, 2025: Modulus Housing, India’s leading factory-made building construction company, has raised its first-ever funding (Series A) of 7.83 million USD to drive the next phase of growth in market expansion and R&D for new technologies and product lines. The funding was led by Kalaari Capital, Hero and Samarthya, with participation from SVAS, Sigma, Zetwerk founder - Srinath, Sanjiv Rangrass, and others.
Founded in 2018 out of IIT Madras by Shreeram Ravichandran and P Gobinath, Modulus Housinghas grown from a bootstrapped venture into a profitable business with cumulative revenue exceeding ₹ 200 crores. The company’s operating revenue increased 38% to INR 54 Cr in FY24 from INR 39 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Modulus’ vision is to create a new category of infrastructure designed for speed, engineered for scale, and built for the low-rise buildings segment. Modulus Housing is driving this through a cloud manufacturing model - a decentralized network of partner factories across the country, and their proprietary IP-based product suite, enabling the production and delivery of modular infrastructure with precision and cost efficiency.
This funding will enable Modulus Housing to further its mission of democratizing access to world-class infrastructure and pushing the boundaries of industrialized micro-construction. The company plans to use the proceeds of this funding to accelerate:

  • ● Market expansion across India and strategic global markets
  • ● Advanced R&D, including the launch of a next-generation concrete modular system
  • ● Scaling of its cloud manufacturing network and partner ecosystem
  • ● Doubling down on lightweight green concrete tech stack to meet the evolving needs of distributed infrastructure

“We’re incredibly excited about the road ahead. From the outset, we were determined to build a company with real depth — one that proved product–market fit and validated our technology and economics before stepping on the accelerator. Having done that, we’re now at an inflection point.
With multiple live projects across F&B, edge data centres, FMCG, oil & gas, healthcare and PSUs, Modulus is demonstrating what the future of distributed low-rise infrastructure should look like—faster, more cost-efficient, and built to higher standards of quality.
The conviction shown by our investors further strengthens our belief that this sector is at the cusp of transformation. And the most rewarding feedback we receive is simple: that our R&D and technology are solving real-world problems and improving time, cost and quality simultaneously. That’s the Modulus promise, and we’re just getting started” Shreeram Ravichandran, Co-founder & CEO, Modulus Housing.“Micro constructions, be it in retail chain stores in Fashion, F&B or healthcare like pharmacies, labs, or distributed agri-processing, dark stores, collection, storage centers, last mile warehouses, fulfilment centers, or next-gen infrastructure like edge data centers, EV charging hubs, and modular defence facilities can only be delivered at scale through factory-built modular solutions.” said, P Gobinath, Co-founder & COO, Modulus Housing.

Modulus is solving a key problem in the infrastructure sector - where demand is decentralized, recurring, and urgent while unmet in quality expectations. Their factory-first approach brings scalability and predictability to one of the most fragmented industries. The founding team of Shreeram and Gobi have done phenomenal work in bootstrapping the company and validating the market. We believe Modulus has the potential to become a category leader in industrialized micro-construction and are excited to work with the team in their next phase of growth.” Sampath P, Partner at Kalaari Capital

Modulus Housing has played a category-defining role in introducing modular construction to public infrastructure and private sector projects in India. With over 1,500 modular buildings across 21 Indian states and various parts of Africa, the company has delivered modular hospitals, cold storage facilities, site offices, and schools, supporting key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, industrial, etc. With deployments ranging from 100 to 150 buildings distributed across districts or states per order, the company provides scalable and efficient solutions for delivering infrastructure rapidly in remote and fast-growing regions of our country to several leading companies.

About Modulus Housing:
Founded in 2018 and incubated at IIT Madras, Modulus Housing is a leading innovator in modular and prefabricated construction solutions. The company has completed over 1,500 modular buildings across India and Africa, serving key sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, food processing, industrial infrastructure, and more.
